WORSHIP

There is a mystery in this world that revolves around this creator-God that produces wonder in my heart. It is beyond human comprehension to understand his beginning because… apparently he has none. He goes on to make every human in history unique and in line with his purpose. Then this master storyteller sets a redemption tale in motion that will culminate with the healing of all things. The overwhelming historical evidence of the Bible and my own personal journey in faith have led me to this conclusion: this is a God worthy of it all. If what He says is true (and I believe it is) our reasonable response in all aspects of life is full buy in. It’s the wonder of these truths about God that fuel my worship. The singing that happens on Sunday morning for 20 minutes is part of our reasonable response, but it is far from all of it. I am a worship leader… but I much more aspire towards the term that Matt Redman coined: a Lead Worshipper. I feel like I fail more than I succeed. Either way, here are some of my thoughts on worship.

“…the most portentous fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.”

—A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy

    What I believe about Gpd

“A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will come out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping, we are becoming.” - Ralph Waldo Emmerson
