A Story Behind the Story

Many of you know the origin of my writing journey and the birth of this world of Eris.

What I don't share with too many people lies at the very heart of the inspiration of this story. 

Saturday, September 11th, 2021. I woke to a phone call that my buddy Andy passed away. He was a truck driver and someone pulled out in front of him on the road. He had to make the split second decision to either demolish this small car with kids inside, or swerve off the road into a telephone pole. I knew Andy for about twenty five years and he was one of my greatest friends. He left behind a beautiful young family. It was devastating.

I began writing a few months later and I knew I wanted to write him into this story as a way to remember him, keep his story going, and maybe in some way honor his sacrifice. So I created the character Andul, a woodsman and uncle type character to the butcher boys. He's mentioned in book one, but is swept into the adventure in book two. 

It was truly meaningful writing his character the last year, bringing out his interests and heart. He was a hard worker, loyal, sacrificial, a protector in life. Those attributes make their way to the pages of book two.
